An empty building offers itself for something greater.

Right beside the new school kitchen is an unfinished, one room building. We call that the cultural center now.

Now that we know where the cultural center will be housed, what goes in it needs to be determined. Meetings are held with an artist, a museum curator/college professor, and most importantly, the elders of the village.

The artist offers designs for the center.

The professor gives direction and helps with scope.

The elders, oh the elders, blaze with inspiration! From them come stories and more stories. Each is a library of tradition. Martha said, "It was like I was back in school and learning about my own culture."

Whenever you gather elders together, they become a living and breathing cultural center.

With a bit of money and tons of sweat, the empty unfinished building by the kitchen will be transformed into the cultural center by July 3rd.

Time to beat the drums.
